Serving Kenosee Lake and Southeastern Saskatchewan

Sacred Heart Chapel serves a truly unique community — one shaped by the rhythms of the seasons and the beauty of the natural world. Kenosee Lake is a resort village, and our congregation reflects that character: a blend of year-round residents, seasonal cottage owners, summer vacationers, and tourists visiting Moose Mountain Provincial Park.

This diversity is our strength. During the warm months, our Saturday evening Mass draws visitors from across Saskatchewan and beyond, creating a vibrant and dynamic worship experience. In winter, the congregation settles into a smaller but deeply connected group of faithful parishioners who support one another through the long prairie season.

Whether you are a lifelong resident of the area or a first-time visitor to the lake, Sacred Heart Chapel welcomes you as part of our family.

Sacred Heart Chapel Community

How We Serve

Building faith and fellowship in our community

Seasonal Ministry

Seasonal Ministry

During the busy summer months, Sacred Heart Chapel opens its doors wide to welcome the many visitors and vacationers who come to Moose Mountain Provincial Park. Our Saturday evening Mass provides a meaningful opportunity for travelers to pause, reflect, and worship during their holiday. We ensure that every visitor feels at home, providing bulletins, warm greetings, and an invitation to experience our unique community of faith.

Parish Fellowship

Community extends beyond the church doors. After Mass, parishioners gather for fellowship — sharing conversation, laughter, and often food. These post-Mass gatherings are cherished moments that strengthen the bonds between permanent residents and seasonal visitors. Throughout the year, special events and celebrations bring the community together in the spirit of joy and thanksgiving.

Pastoral Care

Sacred Heart Chapel provides pastoral care to those in need throughout the region. Our ministry includes visiting the sick and elderly, providing spiritual support during difficult times, and offering the sacraments to those who cannot attend Mass. In a rural area where distances are great and communities are small, this personal care is a vital expression of our faith in action.

Community Goodwill

As part of the fabric of Kenosee Lake village, Sacred Heart Chapel builds positive relationships with the broader community. We participate in village life, support local initiatives, and foster a spirit of interfaith goodwill. Our chapel is not only a place of Catholic worship but a cornerstone of the social and spiritual life of the village.

Kenosee Lake, Saskatchewan

Our Beautiful Home — Kenosee Lake

Kenosee Lake is a resort village nestled in the heart of Moose Mountain Provincial Park, in southeastern Saskatchewan. The name comes from the Cree word kinosew, meaning "fish," a testament to the lake's longstanding importance to the Indigenous peoples of the region.

The area has a rich history stretching back to the 1890s, when early settlers began developing it for tourism and recreation. In the 1930s, the area was formally developed as a provincial park — with the iconic Chalet, roads, and golf course built as Depression-era relief projects. The village was officially incorporated in 1987.

Today, Kenosee Lake offers world-class outdoor recreation: swimming, boating, fishing, golfing at Golf Kenosee, hiking and biking trails, and winter sports including cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. Nearby Cannington Manor Provincial Historic Park offers a glimpse into 19th-century English settlement history.

Sacred Heart Chapel is proud to be a spiritual anchor for this beautiful community — a place of peace and prayer amidst the recreation and natural beauty of Moose Mountain.
